Parametric Sculpture II

90º | 135º | 180º
According to the references and the limitations imposed by the needs program, we decided to choose as a project theme, a shape based in parametric variations. All the process was thought to produce a digital fabricated object.

As a puzzle, the pieces were all diferent in shape, but with an inclination axis following a common rule - 90°, 135° or 180°. The variability of the parts and their design for CNC machining was developed through the Rhino 3D + Grasshopper. After a sequence of tests, the pieces were machined in a CNC Victor Ciolla and the sculpture was assembled.

The sculpture, made of MPU, would be installed in the science museum of UNICAMP, and needed to attend the theme "BONES". The central idea was to produce an interactive sculpture, in which the users themselves could add and remove pieces altering the final shape of the sculpture. Our reference was the "BOTTOM UP" strategy.
