Arduino Workshop

Professors of the Architecture Course of the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland, wrote an article reporting their teaching experience using the LOGO language to present geometric programming for Architecture students without a previous scripting skills. This was a successful initiative with the students of Switzerland, and it was used as a model for the realization of a didactic experience in the UNICAMP campus.

The didactic experience was possible thanks to the event "CIência e Arte nas Férias (CAF)" - During the summer school holidays the university brings to the campus students from public schools of the region of Campinas to participate in workshops in their laboratories.

The complete workshop had a duration of 40 minutes, and was  given three times a day with different teams.
We attempted to present, to a group of students without previous knowledge of programming, an activity involving Arduinos that consisted in controlling colored LEDs imitating industrial processes. In addition to the Arduinos, the activity relied on LED circuits and the MINIBLOQ software. Minibloq is an initiative of Argentine programmers for the
Creation of a free-graphical interface for Arduino boards.

One of its main objectives was to bring the Arduino closer to children and beginners. The person in charge of the Minibloq project, Julián da Silva, wants his graphical programming platform to be compatible with the OLPC initiative (One computer per child), so that the Children can be reached.
